My Professional Journey
I have supported expectant parents since the fall of 2013. I realized shortly after the birth of my second child that I wanted to become a doula in order to support more birthing parents.

In 2011 I gave birth to my first child with very little knowledge of what it meant to be a birthing person. My beautiful daughter arrived by unplanned and unnecessary cesarean birth. I had felt robbed of the birth I wanted, so I went in search of support elsewhere. It was then that I was put in touch with a doula and leader of ICAN. I learned that I needed more support in my birth and I also learned I was woefully uneducated.

In the fall of 2012 I found myself pregnant again and wished to have a VBAC. Sadly the hospitals where we lived at the time were not kind to plus sized women, so I sought out a midwife for care. I became empowered to learn about birth, my body and my choices. I successfully birthed my second born via waterbirth and my life was forever shifted! It was then that I knew I wanted to be a doula.

Life has taken me a lot of places between my initial training in 2013 and where I am now, but I have always kept up to speed on best birth practices, evidence-based practices and the options available within my community.

I have a heart and passion for serving women of all walks of life. I am a loss mother and also a survivor of domestic violence as well as sexual assault. Because of these things I feel extremely strongly in supporting women in their choices and life circumstances.
